Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Traffic Diversion: Repair Work Forces Route Change Near Dat Kali Temple
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway traffic has been diverted due to patchwork repairs near Dat Kali Temple, affecting vehicles travelling towards Delhi. Authorities have advised commuters to follow diversion routes. Meanwhile, rising water levels in Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers due to rainfall have prompted alerts in Uttarakhand.
Commuters planning to travel on the expressway have been advised to check the latest traffic arrangements before starting their journey to avoid congestion and unnecessary delays. Officials stated that the diversion is temporary and normal traffic movement will resume once the repair work is completed.
Traffic police have appealed to travellers to avoid rushing, follow the designated diversion routes, obey traffic signs, and cooperate with police personnel deployed on the route. Vehicles travelling from Dehradun towards Delhi may require additional travel time due to increased traffic pressure on the alternate route.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Traffic Circle Officer Ankit Kandari said that patchwork work is underway on the expressway near Dat Kali Temple. Due to the repair activity, traffic coming from the Uttar Pradesh side is being diverted to the old route.
Ankit Kandari stated that traffic moving from Delhi towards Dehradun is operating normally, while vehicles travelling from Dehradun towards Delhi are facing diversion restrictions. He added that regular traffic movement on the expressway will be restored after the completion of road repair work.
Meanwhile, continuous rainfall has affected high-altitude areas of Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts in Uttarakhand. Due to heavy rainfall, the water levels of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers have been steadily rising. Officials reported that the water level of the Alaknanda River has been recorded at 623.10 metres.
Although the river level remains below the danger mark, the administration is closely monitoring the situation amid continued rainfall. Residents living near riverbanks have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions to avoid any emergency situation.
The Disaster Management Department and local administration are continuously issuing alerts for residents and visitors. Pilgrims travelling for the Char Dham pilgrimage and tourists visiting Uttarakhand have been advised to avoid going near riverbanks and regularly monitor weather updates.
Authorities have urged people travelling through hilly areas during heavy rainfall to exercise additional caution. Travellers have been advised to follow any new advisory issued by the administration and avoid risky movement during adverse weather conditions.
The temporary traffic diversion on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and rising river levels in Uttarakhand highlight the need for increased caution among commuters and residents. Normal expressway operations will resume after repair work is completed, while authorities continue monitoring weather conditions and maintaining safety measures across affected areas.
